Manaus Airport presents real estate plan to boost Amazon development and announces entry into the global e-commerce route

On Thursday (23), Manaus Airport presents a plan to consolidate the airport as a platform for logistics, business, and economic development and to insert the Amazon into the global e-commerce route. During the Manaus Airport in Motion event, the Airports of the Amazon Concessionaire, part of the VINCI Airport network, launches a real estate development program for the airport's surroundings and announces the implementation of the Express Shipment (Courier) service at the Cargo Terminal, directly connecting Manaus to global e-commerce chains.

Managed since 2022 by the Concessionaire, Manaus Airport is located in a capital with the sixth-largest economy in Brazil and hosts one of the country's main industrial hubs. During the event, a strategic vision for the Amazon will be presented, highlighting the transformations promoted at the airport since the beginning of the concession, investments in infrastructure and innovation, the potential of the cargo terminal, and the socio-environmental agenda developed in the region.

The highlight of the presentation is the launch of the Real Estate program, a proposal to transform airport infrastructure into a vector for attracting investments, expanding logistics, stimulating tourism, and generating new businesses, boosting the local economy.

The program transforms available areas of the airport into opportunities for new investments, such as hotels, commerce, services, and other ventures capable of serving passengers, companies, and the community. A study conducted by Colliers identified, within the nearly 14 million square meters of the airport site, an area of approximately 5 million square meters with the potential to host developments such as a logistics condominium, a hotel with 150 rooms, a convention center, a wholesale retail store, offices, and even a shopping center. The initiative seeks to attract private investments, generate jobs, enhance the competitiveness of the Manaus Free Trade Zone, and create the necessary infrastructure to keep up with the growth of logistics operations and e-commerce.

Express Shipment Service

In addition to the real estate development program, the event marks the implementation of the Express Shipment (Courier) service, which enhances the strategic role of the Manaus Airport Cargo Terminal. Responsible for meeting the demand of the Manaus Free Trade Zone, the terminal now integrates the Amazon into global e-commerce chains.

The new Courier operation will reduce the delivery time for international purchases destined for the North region from up to 60 days to about a week. With an investment of R$ 1.7 million in technological modernization, customs adaptation, and the implementation of a new warehouse management system (WMS), the airport becomes the first in the North region enabled to operate the courier service for international purchases, joining the group of the country's main logistics hubs, alongside Guarulhos, Rio de Janeiro, Belo Horizonte, and Curitiba. The initial expectation is to handle around 10,000 packages per day, directly connecting Manaus to the operations of major e-commerce platforms, such as Amazon, Shopee, Shein, and Temu.

The initiative accompanies the expansion of global e-commerce, which moves more than US$ 4 trillion per year. In addition to benefiting consumers with faster deliveries, the new operation opens opportunities to expand exports of products manufactured in the Manaus Free Trade Zone and items produced in the Amazon, strengthening regional competitiveness and creating new connections with international markets.

The CEO of the Airports of the Amazon Concessionaire, Kleyton Mendes, highlights: "21st-century airports have ceased to be just places for boarding and disembarking.
